Complete EE Timeline
⏰ Key: The most successful EEs follow a phased plan — 2-3 hours/week over 3-4 months is far better than cramming in the final two weeks.
Phase 1: Topic & Preparation (2-3 weeks)
| Week | Task | Output |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Explore topic areas, read background material | 3-5 candidate directions |
| 2 | Discuss feasibility with supervisor | Research Question finalized |
| 3 | Gather core literature, plan research | Preliminary bibliography + outline |
Phase 2: Research & Data (4-5 weeks)
| Week | Task | Output |
|---|---|---|
| 4-5 | Deep reading, note-taking | Literature review draft |
| 6-7 | Experiments/surveys/data analysis | Raw data + analysis |
| 8 | Organize materials, outline structure | Detailed outline |
Phase 3: First Draft (3-4 weeks)
Weeks 9-12: Write introduction, methodology, body, and conclusion. Aim for complete draft of 3,500-4,000 words.
Phase 4: Revision (2-3 weeks)
Weeks 13-15: Supervisor feedback, revision, final formatting check, and submission.
🔑 EE High-Score Tips
- Narrow research question: "Causes of WWII" → too broad. "Weather's impact on German decisions at Normandy" → excellent EE topic.
- Consistent citation format (APA/MLA/Chicago). Use Zotero.
- Maximize your 3 formal supervisor feedback sessions.
- Complete RPPF reflections at each phase, not all at the end.
